Oil leak/water pump
I have been hit with the famous oil leak from water pump seal. I did a search using various keywords, but didn't find anything helpful. My question is: Is there a seal that can be purchased from an auto parts store or does the part have to come from Kaw.? Can you just buy the seal? or do you have to buy the part in combination with other parts as a kit?

Jerry; Just in case you do not know ,the seal is not available through your Kaw dealer unless you know the part# because it is not listed in the XII parts list. The seal is the same one used on the old Concours and that is what you will be buying. You can buy a seal with the same dimensions but you can't be sure that it is made up of what the Kaw one is and for the price it is not worth the risk, cause after you change it you do not want to do it again! The seal in yours is probably not even bad, it just works it's way out on the shaft and lets the oil by and leaks, that is what most of them do, but while you are doing it you want to be sure that you put in a new correct seal. Your best bet is as stated... Call Carl Leo and he will send you exactly what you need for the whole job (best price and service anywhere!!!!) and tell you the best way to do it. Everyone on these msg boards will tell you, that is the best (by far) way to "geter done!!!"
