Highway Pegs

Post by rlstephens5891 »

Hello All,

I wanted to attach the before and after pictures to this post but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Check this out: I have a pair of the highway pegs with the "O" rings on them and every time I went riding they would roll up on one end and even come off sometimes. I said"enough of this nonsense". I had a slight brain burn and cam up with this.
1. I removed all of the "O" rings.
2. Removed the glue that someone had put on the pegs in an attempt to stop this.
3. Went to my local auto supply store and walked the isles looking for something that might be usful.
4. The brain burn... The radiator hose isle behind the counter. With permission I walked the isle until I found the radiator hose that was a perfect fit for the peg. I used a re-inforced radiator hose #459 with a 1" ID.
5. Took it home and cut the sections I needed from the hose and installed them on the pegs then notched out the clamp section so they would fold up.

Fits perfect, Heavy duty, Looks good. No more "O" ring problems.

I say whatever works! I've done the same thing, have a problem, get in the car and go to the hardware or automotive supply stores and walk the isles. I have always come up with the right solution doing that. Sort of a mobile brain storming session!
