Flag mounts
Has anybody mounted a 3x5 flag on their bike? I'm a member of the PGR and see it all the time on other bikes but don't see any Voyagers out there.

Re: Flag mounts
About the best way to do this is to get a hitch with a receiver mount in it. Hitches run about $150 or so and aren't too awfully hard to put on. The PGR store used to sell some falg mounts that went to receiver hitches. I don't know if they still do this or not though.
I supoose you could finangle something that would attach under the pannier bags to the sub-frame. I think the issue there would be metal fatigue over time though. It would be a major pain to remove after every PGR ride.

Here is what I came up with. The hitch is an extra, older one, for a Hitch Doctor receiver. (Note: will only fit a Hitch Doctor, also a spare for me) and the tube that is bolted on it can be bought from Rivco for abt $50.00. Just bolt to the hitch. Changing from a regular hitch to the flag pole holder takes just a few second. (I am also fabricating a three flag pole set-up to be used with my Rivco carrier rack adapter.) Then I'll be able to use it on both my platform hitch on the '94 and the receiver hitch on the '03.

Re: Flag mounts
As A PGR member I have a 3x5 flag setup on my '03. I used PVC and made a rig using the seat rail mounts and the bottom mounts for the bags with a series of clamps etc. Takes about 30 minutes to install and not quite as long to take off. Works fairy well. When traveling at highway speed I have the flag cased. and the flagpole mount is held in place in the pvc holder by a bolt and wing nut. The whole setup is painter black so as to partly blend in with the bike. Have been using it for about 4 years now. I uncase the colors once in parade formation.

Re: Flag mounts
Very easy to make with PVC pipes and some glue. I did a three mile round trip and going thru 2 flags. 3X5 flags. No problems at all.
