Pop goes the linkage
Was about 10 miles from home and I down shifted to first to make a turn onto my sisters street. Heard a pop and the shifter fell forward. Drove to sisters in first gear. Found the shifter linkage had snapped at the knuckle of the tranny. Fortunately I had a spare linkage from an old engine so I was back on the road in a couple of hours. Really lucky because I'm planning a four state trip next month and probably would not have thought of taking the spare linkage. And the beat goes on.............Gator Mike

Re: Pop goes the linkage
Can a person buy just the plastic parts to have for back up? Looks like oem parts you have to buy two whole assemblies.

Re: Pop goes the linkage
I keep an extra in the saddlebag. Takes up no room. Haven't needed it yet, but don't want to get caught a million miles from home with broken linkage.
