.im hoping someone has the knowledge. I'm replacing the frictions in my clutch and wondering, are the last two plates clocked the same or only the last one. the manual doesn't really talk about this for the 03. i know after a certain year they added two extra plates, but in the supplemental they don't say last two or last 1.
also all of my steels are 2.3mm when the manaul says 2 steels should be 2.6mm and the rest 2.3. should i replace per manual? or keep all at 2.3?

Just a reminder that rally registration closes on May 9 so that we can place our t-shirt order for the rally.
If you are coming, but have not sent in your registration, do it TODAY or TOMORROW!
After that, we will not accept any orders for t-shirts. We order a few extra of the most common sizes for the rally. You can only get what is available.
Have you all made your hotel reservations? If not, do it NOW! If our blocked rooms are full at Laquinta Inn, you'll have to find other lodging.

According to the MSM, the A-1 and B-1through B-4 models, (1986 to 1990), used 8 steel plates. The first and last are 2.6mm thick and the remainder are 2.9mm.
The B-5 onwards used 8 steel plates; 7 which are 2.3mm and 1 which is 2.6mm.
All models used the same quantity and thickness of friction discs, that being 9 in number, and only the last friction disc has it's tangs fitted in the shallow U shaped groove of the clutch housing.
In your case, B-17 model, the 2.6mm, last steel plate, may have been replaced by a 2.3mm plate to obtain the correct spring plate free play measurement and you should follow the procedure on page 5-4 of the MSM Supplement to determine why you have all 8 of the plates measuring 2.3mm.
Remember a mm is only .040" so your setup may be alright as is but that is only a guess on my part without doing the spring plate test for free play.
