Hello everyone! As of today, we have 90 registered! That's going to be a great turn out!
Just a reminder that rally registration closes on May 9 so that we can place our t-shirt order for the rally.
If you are coming, but have not sent in your registration, do it TODAY or TOMORROW!
After that, we will not accept any orders for t-shirts. We order a few extra of the most common sizes for the rally. You can only get what is available.
Have you all made your hotel reservations? If not, do it NOW! If our blocked rooms are full at Laquinta Inn, you'll have to find other lodging.
See you all soon!

Original Dunlop Tire Changed today

Post by garbal »

Crazy but...
I recently bought a 1988 Voyager 1200 from the Original Owner. Odometer showed 20,000 kms (Canada). Roughtly 12400 miles.

Did some work on the carbs, changed the speakers... cleaned / tweaked / messed around with...

Now I turned my attention to the tires. Back tire was getting a little bald (turns out this was the second tire... EVER)

Front tire looked good... Checked the Date code on it... 3 digit date code. Turns out it was the original Tire!

WTF... Changed both tires... at 23,011 kms...

This tire was long past due for a change... Go Dunlop!!! That's pretty crazy!

I bet some of the fluids are original, too. Especially shock/forks and brakes/clutch. Some of my fluids came out looking like pus. I might've had the original front tire -- didn't even look at the date code.

I would stay with Dunlops if they still made the E-4s but they do not offer it anymore, :hmm: so I am thinking of going with Michelin Commander IIIs

I bought e4s for my XII on Amazon in June 2020. I think they are still available, at least the front is.

Here's the page for the rear, currently unavailable but you never know...

Yes, the fronts are still available. The rears are no longer being manufactured in our size, and are all gone. Transmuted from rubber, carbon black, nylon and other fibers metallic and non-metallic, all transmogrified into that most mysterious of elements, Unobtainium.
