nothing to do with Kawasaki

Post by Nails »

I was planning to ride back east this fall, but I don't have time for necessary maintenance after this summer's trip. Amtrak came out with some smokin' deals, and I rode trains all over the US as a kid (Dad worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad). So I went for it. New Mexico to Maine, 72 hrs in coach. Honestly, it was brutal.

I stayed with an artist friend, a print-maker.

Spent a couple days at the Maine Maritime Museum -- walking distance from his house.

He let me use his '86 BMW K75, the famous "Flying Brick". Which is why I'm telling you about it.

I rode the "Mid-Coast" to Acadia.

And found an excellent Brit-style Bitter, cask conditioned.

So that's my Fall ride report. Only 56 hrs to get home, but still brutal.

Thank you, nails, for the thought  :perfect10:
My wife and I crossed the nation twice on Amtrak. We did the roomette upgrade, which gave us a private room with two berths to sleep in and great meals in the dining car.We really enjoyed the trips.
The meals did not look as good as yours did though :rolling:

hike

This was out to Popham Beach, near the second Brit colony here, after Jamestown. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popham_Colony Didn't actually go to the colony site -- don't think there's any artifacts there.

Just a hike, because New Mexico coast are a few million years old and a whole lot drier.

It's Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Park https://www.bristolmaine.org/parks-recr ... house-park. Road 32 heading north was my favorite, as curvy as Acadia NP, but not strict speed limits.

And I was sorta between tourist seasons -- so didn't get shot. Or maybe I was just going too fast. :!!

I gained 10 lbs just fine with the singles. Thank god I brought some pants with a stretchy waist.

BTW, regarding "nothing to do with Kawasaki", at the top of every page of this web site is: "American Voyager Association
We welcome all Voyagers (those who Voyage) whether you ride a Kawasaki Voyager or not, all brands are welcomed to join!". So don't sweat a post not being about a Kawasaki. It's all good.

Whew! I was worried I'd get kicked off.
But then again, I haven't been kicked off yet. Dunno what it takes. :hmm:
