Since you have one deflector and not the other, can you report what they actually do. Especially on a hot day.

Riding in triple-digit heat, my bike puts out a large triangle of high heat from both the shark-fin vents and from inside the fairing. (Yes, I have the gaskets between fairing and outside cylinders.) There is no place to put my legs out of the heat, even with the soles of my boots on the ends of the case-saver footpegs. But if I do that and point my toes, it directs some cooler air into the area behind the fairing lowers.

I don't see how these deflectors would help -- they're probably more for warmth on cold days than for cooling on hot ones. But that's why I'm asking.

I don't really see a way to relieve this heat without sorting some kind of "modern" full bodywork.

Yes. These are for deflecting road debris, bugs and hot day heat away from the driver. Inboard internal vents have to do the things you're asking about, Nails, to move road speed air through the fairing across the driver.
I think there is some value though to the "venturi" effect of the fast moving air to draw flow from behind the windsceen and fairing, kind of like an airplane wing draws air through the arc under the wing. I can't describe it well enough here, but vs. sitting idling in the baking heat, these help draw air at highway speeds. At least i think they do.
But in blistering Arizona heat, as an example, maybe not effective.

Those vents aren't anywhere near to adequate for what I'm talking about. I'm guessing, from a few hours of feeling around with my hand, that everything within that quadrant * is about 140 F on a long triple-digit day. Knees down get well-and-truly overcooked.

I didn't think these deflectors would help but wanted to ask. For me right now, this is the greatest limitation of the XII. As mentioned, I can see some benefit to full-on body plastic.

I have some ideas to make a pocket of cooler air, but low confidence they'll actually work. We'll have to see.

Going the other way, I think it's possible to divert radiator air from the shark gills through a new hole in the lower fairings. I mean a door that I could flip to turn the "heater" on. (I have electric gear for the upper body, that works well below freezing.) But again, let's see.

I've sat at long stoplights in nearly full leathers on 90+° days here in Chicagoland, and could not bear the heat... needed to get moving. Triple digit heat though i cannot imagine.
Agree the venting wouldn't do much of anything.

However I believe the little deflector does help in our limited heat. And as you've said, helps with cold temp circulating warmer air.

I just did a long hot ride, and here's what I've decided: I've ordered some Joe Rocket mesh pants, selected because they're not black (a fuken stupid color here) and they don't have all the zippers and crap for liners -- just simple armored pants with good reviews for circulation. They're tan, like my Marine-surplus vented combat boots. I'll wear something like polypro under them instead of levies, and find a way to deal if I need to get off the bike and put on pants. I already have a white mesh armored jacket. I've also ordered Frogg Toggs and some overboots to put over it all for rain.

Right now I have Tourmaster mesh pants (black), fine for modest temps, but I can't wear them in this heat. I sometimes can't wear that jacket, either. On recent summer trips I often just wear white or yellow cotton -- in campgrounds I pick up nicknames like "Mr. Clean".

I don't mean to sound wuss-ley about the heat -- I've built lots of fireline in SW summers (I was a smokejumper). But now I'm riding for fun. And as you say, hot is hot.

I found a pair of lower fairing wing deflectors. Wrong color, but these (apparently) are very difficult and rare to find.
Will be painting them to match my '95 color to match.
Yay!

I indeed found a pair of OEM Kawasaki sure Deflectors and now have them. They are perfect, however red vs. my 1995 Blue. I will next need to get "Color Match" paint from "Color Match"and get these painted.

When I’ve needed plastic I get what I can get and take it to my custom painter to match and just get them painted. If you want your bike nice don’t be cheap. If you don’t care get a can of spray paint and make it look like a rat rod.

I agree. I will get the Color Match specific year paint and then have my painter do them... right. My Voyager is nearly completed on the restoration work... not going cheap rat rod now. It's taken me over two years to find these perfect condition Deflector Wing parts, even in wrong red color.
So they will get the Pro paint job, and then I can install the pair.
