Carb rejetting for altitude
Quick question, new to the group...picked up a 94 KZ1200 3 or 4 months ago with 30,000 mi. on her (absolutely love this bike!) and I have plans to ride her up Pikes Peak on labor day solo. My concern is fuel mixture at altitude. I bought jets for the trip but am apprehensive about tearing her apart so far from home. Is it absolutely necessary or will I be able to make the trip on stock jetting? The bike runs perfect and has no engine or carb issues at all. Pleasure to be a part of your group!

We went two-up on a stock '98 Voyager 1200 several years ago and the bike never missed a beat. So just go for your ride and have fun------. Just don't try running around up there or you will run out of air. LOL

Re: Carb rejetting for altitude
I messed with this a few years ago because I live just under 8K ft. (My POS cheap bike had a lot of issues.) IIRC, I took the main jet down one click, but I think I put it back because you just can't stay high all your life. I noticed some very minor issues in RMNP, but honestly not worth the fuss. Ride on.
